Net Zero Home in Glacier Ridge

Exterior of a net zero certified, front-drive garage home in Glacier Ridge in NW Calgary.

Cedarglen Homes is pleased to present a Net Zero certified quick possession home in the bustling new community of Glacier Ridge in northwest Calgary. For this home we take our Clairmont SSY 24 model and apply the ‘Net Zero Certified’ package. From a technical standpoint, this home includes the following:

  • Spray foam insulation under basement slab
  • XPS exterior insulation around the foundation
  • R24 Batt insulation to exterior walls on main & upper floor
  • 2” exterior insulation on exterior walls
  • R60 insulation to attic
  • Mitsubishi heat pump
  • Rheem hybrid electric water heater
  • Triple pane casement windows
  • 11.06 KW Solar System

Net Zero homes are built to be as air-tight as possible to keep outdoor pollutants out of the home and reduce air leakage. This results in better indoor air quality, better noise insulation, and reduced energy & heating costs for homeowners. For a home to be classified as ‘net zero certified’, it must achieve an airtightness of 1.5 air changes per hour or better. This home far exceeds this standard by achieving 0.51 air changes per hour (confirmed by a 3rd party energy advisor). In addition to the core performance features that have been added to the home, our Design Consultants have carefully curated a range of sustainable interior selections to ensure this home is as sustainable as possible. The main floor features Torlys CorkWoodXP Designer strip flooring throughout in the colour ‘Creekbed Oak’. Cork flooring itself is a renewable wood source as they are made without cutting down any cork oak trees or damaging forests. The bark from these trees is carefully harvested once every 9 years, and the tree is then able to regrow the bark so the tree can continue to live up to 300 years. On the upper floor, the carpet that has been selected is made of 100% recycled content including recycled water bottles, while the bathroom tile is composed of 40% recycled content. ‘Onbord’ cabinets were selected throughout the home which are made of 30% recycled wood and are an ‘Eco-Certified Composite (ECC)’. Finally, the countertops are made of Caesarstone which meets strict material mission standards for a minimal impact on indoor air quality. In addition, Caesarstone quartz products are independently certified by the GREENGUARD Certification as a low-emission surface.

From start to finish, every detail of this impressive home has been carefully selected to offer a truly sustainable home. This home can be found at 141 Edith Villas NW. If you are interested in calling this Net Zero home yours, please contact our Sales Team directly.
