Family Day in Calgary 2016
By Stephanie Miller, Marketing Coordinator
Hello long weekend! Between Valentine’s Day on Sunday and Family Day on Monday, the city of Calgary is booming with fun events. If you don’t have your weekend mapped out just yet, don’t worry because we got you covered. Here is a look at some events happening throughout this much loved weekend.
If you’re looking to spend some time outside, then we suggest lacing up your skates for one of these family friendly activities. New Brighton will be hosting their annual Valentine’s event “Affair of the Heart” at the New Brighton Club on February 13, 2016 from 6pm to 9pm. Enjoy a family fun skate and indulge in some hot chocolate by the fire to keep warm. The City of Calgary has also organized a skating event “Skate in Nature” where you can enjoy some fresh air. The Skate in Nature will take place in Carburn Park on February 13, 2016 and Bowness Park on February 14, 2016. Each event will run from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm. Families can enjoy nature activities and learn how Calgary’s local plants and animals adapt to the cold weather. We do suggest checking the rink status beforehand, to ensure they’re open.
For an activity that isn’t weather dependant, we recommend going to Eau Claire Market Centre Court. This two day event will run on February 14 and 15, 2016 from 12pm to 3pm. Here you can enjoy live music, ice carving, carnival games, face painting and a kids craft zone … just to name a few!
If you’re looking to take advantage of this mild and beautiful February, we have one more suggestion for you. Dust off your bike (yep that’s right) and join in on the Winterpalooza 2nd Annual Bike Scavenger Hunt. The Scavenger Hunt will take place on February 15, 2016 from 2pm to 3pm followed by prizes and an after party! Click here for more information on the route.
Wherever this long weekend takes you, we hope that you get to spend it by enjoying some quality time with your loved ones!
Have a great weekend,
