Staying Warm with High Efficiency

It’s a crucial unit for every home (especially in Canada!) but it’s not necessarily a product that home buyers put a lot of thought into: your furnace.
Cedarglen Homes uses one of two top quality furnaces.
Our standard furnace is an Aire-Flo 95Af Furnace. Aire-Flo has been in the heating and cooling industry for over 50 years. The 95AF furnace has up to 95% AFUE. Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency is a way of measuring the efficiency of your furnace and in short it describes how efficiently fuel is converted to energy. This furnace with a 95% AFUE translates to mean that you get $0.95 worth of heat for every energy dollar that you spend. In turn you can save hundreds on your yearly utility bills. The main cabinet of this furnace is made with a corrosion-resistant, pre-painted steel that is pre-tested and built to last! Your Aire-Flo 95AF Furnace also comes with a 20 year limited warranty on the steel heat exchanger and a 5 year limited warranty on parts.
Our upgraded option is a Lennox EL296V. Lennox has been in the business of heating and cooling residential homes for over 100 years! The EL296V Furnace has up to 96% AFUE. Remember the higher the percentage the greater the efficiency. Something unique about this furnace is it has a variable speed motor. This means the motor moves at different speeds, which helps control the flow of air throughout the home. This furnace also has two stages. The first stage is for low heat, which circulates on mild days; the second stage is for high heat to circulate on extremely cold days. This helps gives a balance throughout the home no matter what the weather is like outside. The EL296V has a limited lifetime warranty on the heat exchanger with an additional 10 year limited warranty on all remaining covered components.
Both of these furnaces qualify for the Energy Star Label. This means they meet or exceed the guidelines set by the US Environmental Protection Agency.
In addition to our top quality furnaces, Cedarglen has recently made the switch to a new Universal 4-Wire Thermostat. The Emerson 12” Touchscreen Display Blue Easy Install 1F98EZ-1421 Thermostat. This thermostat has 4 time and 4 temperature settings per program (heat and cool) and will help maintain the room temperature to within one degree. It’s also the perfect all-in-one control system as it can be programed to control not only your furnace but also your humidifier and your air conditioner if you have one. It has built in reminders to change UV lamps, furnace filters, and humidifier pads so you don’t have to remember on your own. Furthermore, should your power ever go out, this thermostat has permanent program retention during power outages.
One final consideration to make in regards to your furnace is zoning. A zoning system is effective for those who may require different temperatures throughout their home. Perhaps one area of your house is unoccupied or there is a disagreement between family members over the perfect temperature. The zoning system is an efficient way to meet specific temperature needs in one are without changing the requirements in other areas of your home.
