Luxury Vinyl Plank Flooring
By Amy Marchand, Design Consultant
A new product is making a place for itself in the flooring industry called Luxury Vinyl Plank, otherwise known as LVP. New and innovative, it has been created to withstand the craziest of households! Whether you have 3 kids, two dogs or 10 friends who call your house home, LVP is stylish, durable and becoming a very popular selection.
As homes become more of an open concept, it is increasingly important to pay attention to transitions from one flooring material to the other. LVP, it is a water resistant product that allows you to use it in high traffic entry ways like a mudroom or even a bathroom! No need to find a tile that transitions well with the hardwood or a colour of grout that will best hide dirt. LVP can go through an entire main floor without the worry of water damage and scratches. The core of LVP is a plastic and wood composite, so in addition to it being water resistant, the little amount of wood in the core prevents it from expanding or contracting the same way hardwood does. If a deep scratch were to happen, which would be difficult to achieve, you can replace that particular plank.
With the look of hardwood being desired by the majority of consumers, Divine Flooring has added a registered embossing to their LVP flooring. This means that anytime you see grain within the planks, the embossed texture will match that grain, making it look and feel similar to real wood. In addition to that, there isn’t a clear coat on the surface that will wear down over time. What you see is what you get for many years to come. Another added feature are the low profile transition pieces that are much more inconspicuous and reduce those stubbed toe injuries!
If you are looking to build a new home, renovate or develop a basement and you want a durable floor without sacrificing the overall look, Luxury Vinyl Plank flooring is probably the floor for you!
Have a great weekend,
