Holiday Entertaining
By Stephanie Miller, Marketing Coordinator
The most wonderful time of the year can turn into the most stressful time of the year pretty quick when you’re hosting a Christmas party. With that thought in mind we created reason #8 for buying a Cedarglen Home; Entertaining doesn’t have to be a chore when you own a Cedarglen Home. What makes our homes the perfect entertaining location? Simple, it’s our floor plan designs and the standards that are included with each home! The majority of our homes have large open areas on the main floor combining the kitchen, great room and nook into one large entertaining space. As the host, you won’t miss out on any of the action while in the kitchen. Our standards, such as hardwood floors and a toasty fireplace, give the space a luxurious feel that will make every guest feel welcomed! However, it’s not just the space that can make entertaining stressful. So for this week’s blog we thought we provide you with some helpful tips for an excellent festive night!
The first thing you’ll want to do is set the mood. The easiest way to do this is through music and decorations. Make a playlist ahead of time or stream music throughout the night that will get everyone in a festive mood. When it comes to decorating your home for the holidays, there are plenty of possibilities! One of my favorite looks right now is using silver and gold. These are great neutrals that can easily dress up your home without getting to distracting.
When it comes to planning a meal for the holidays, the most traditional evening would be a turkey dinner. With a formal dinner you’ll also need to consider if you have enough seating and place settings. If that sounds too overwhelming, you can go a more modern route. A recent trend that we’re seeing a lot of is hosting a holiday cocktail party. You can invite your guests over for dinner but rather than one big meal, you can provide a selection of appetizers. One of the benefits to this is that you can offer your guests a wide variety of food and don’t have to worry about formal place settings or seating. We’ve pinned some ideas on our Cedarglen Homes Pinterest page (click here) to help get you started!
If you’re looking to do a little extra you can also add some entertainment into your evening. For example make it a secret Santa party where everybody brings an anonymous gift, or ask everyone to bring a Christmas ornament and do an ornament exchange. One of my favorite entertaining ideas this year is to set up your own photo booth. Have a few props and a camera set up on a table, use some wrapping paper as a backdrop and you have your own DIY photo booth that will keep guest entertained throughout the evening!
The most important thing to remember if you are planning on doing some holiday entertaining is to enjoy yourself!
Have a good weekend,
