Drafting's Favourite Models
Cedarglen Homes has created several beautiful house plans over the year that reflect the current trends seen in the homebuilding industry. Our mission statement is to innovate for better living, and our drafting team continuously works to achieve this in their creations. We recently sat down with a few members of our drafting department to see what their favourite house plans and elevations have been.

I would have to say I love the Lavoy the most right now. It has the Huxley main floor plan mixed with the Bellevue upper floor plan which is a great combination. It has a walk-through laundry and two master closets which I really think is important. Also, this standard plan comes with a third-floor loft option in Cranston. I think it’s a solid plan and would make the ultimate showhome. Click here to view floorplans for the Lavoy 24.

My favourite house plan that I’ve worked on so far is a customized version of the Carbon 26 in The Parks of Harvest Hills with the ‘Q’ elevation. I think the ‘Q’ elevation looks nice on it’s own, but these homeowners were very lucky. They were able to add a double garage and side driveway. Extra battens and paneling were added to the sides as well, since it’s on the corner, and I just think the whole house looks amazing. Currently my favorite house plan is the Lavoy 26 with the ‘J’ elevation. I mainly like this house because of the modern exterior, as well as the unique use of the upper floor that provides a fresh spin for a family home. The interior layout has plenty of room for growing families with space to expand as well as an open layout that is perfect both functional and beautiful. The Champion SSY model is currently my favourite plan that we offer. This model is compact and the space inside is nicely distributed into an open concept layout. The exterior has a great curb appeal for the size of the house.

To date, my personal favorite plan would be the Enchant 28. This plan was the first to have a smaller more practical desk area combined with the walk-through pantry and larger kitchen while maintaining an open concept on the main floor. The upper floor is where we first introduced the concept of a mid-house bonus room which seems to have become the norm for many homebuilders in our market segment today. It wasn’t so much the room sizes or overall house size that appealed to me in this case but rather the overall flow of the house in combination with practical spaces that appeals to me and my senses, even today.

I would have to say that my favourite model is the Lougheed 46. This model is totally different from others as the layout and shape of the house is almost square which sets it apart from. The spacious entrance has a nice view of the staircase which is located in the centre of the house. The upper floor bedrooms are large and square and it has a multi-purpose bonus room! If I were to build this house, I think I would switch the location of the bonus and master bedroom to provide more privacy.

My favorite house plan is the Macleod because it is very spacious and there is a lot of room for customization. The open concept main floor provides plenty of space for entertaining and the fireplace ties it all together nicely. The bedrooms are also quite large and allow plenty of room for family growth.
