A Modern Take on a Traditional Classic

By Stephanie Miller, Marketing Coordinator

It’s officially the most wonderful time of the year! Stores have their Christmas decorations on display, malls are starting to play their Christmas music and even Starbucks has retired the pumpkin spice latte and replaced it with the eggnog latte. Although some people might say that it is a little too early, there is no denying that the Christmas spirit is in the air and that it is contagious!

So in that Christmas spirit we thought we would do our first Christmas themed blog. This year we are seeing both traditional and modern trends coming out. For our first blog I thought I’d focus on a modern take of the traditional Christmas tree. Introducing The Wall Tree! My favorite part about Christmas has always been the tree itself. Every year I always pick the biggest real tree that I can find even if that means that it doesn’t really fit in my home; however, the trend of the wall tree is an interesting one because you have the opportunity to really get creative. The first thing that caught my eye is that you can use a variety of different materials to make it; wall tape, ribbon, strings of lights, felt or even branches that you can find outside. It can be as bare or as full as you want to make it. Here is a good example of one made with tape and filled in with some garland.

For the next example you wouldn’t even need to put any holes in the wall. By simply using some tape, yarn and a few ornaments you have an instant wall tree.

This is one of my favorites! It would require a bit more work than the first two, but I love the simple rustic look that it gives off by just using branches, a string of lights and a few select ornaments.

A Christmas wall tree is also a great option for anyone that doesn’t have a lot of space in their home or just wants to avoid the clean up that comes along with a Christmas tree. If you are like me and still enjoy a traditional tree, then this could also be a great idea to do in a kid’s room. You could also add numbers onto the decorations to make it into an advent calendar. So maybe there is enough room to embrace some modern ideas into a traditional holiday!

Enjoy your weekend,
